SOUTH KOREA
South Korea is a country in
East Asia with a population of approximately 50 million people.
It is joined in the north to
North Korea. To the west is the Yellow Sea, to the east is the Sea of
Japan (I'm not sure if that is what the Korean's call it though). To the
south is the Korea Strait.
Most of the population are
not religious, although there are large numbers of Buddhists and Christians.
South Korea is well known for
its large industrial producers of home appliances, electronic goods
and motor vehicles. The best known globally include Samsung, LG and Hyundai.

The Korean National Flower is
the Mugunghwa. Exactly what is the correct way to write it in English
characters is probably open to debate. To my ears it sounded like Moogoongha.
I guess other permutations might include Mugungha, Moogoonghwa, Mugoongha,
Mugoonghwa, Moogungha. I have listed it here as Mugunghwa, since that
seems to be the most widely used spelling using a western character set.

The Teach Yourself
courses are among the best for getting started in any language. Be
careful when you follow the links to amazon which I have provided
(follow them by clicking on the pictures). In some cases the link will
take you to just the book, in other cases it will take you to the book
plus CDs. That was because at the time I set this up, I could not find
the book plus CDs in all instances. |
