ENGLAND

England is a country in Western Europe, which along with the countries of Scotland and Wales, comprise the island called Great Britain. England, Scotland and Wales when combined with Northern Ireland (which is not on the island of Great Britain) are referred to as the United Kingdom or UK. The UK has a population of approximately 60 million people of which over 80% live in England.

England is separated from France by the English Channel (La Manche to the French), but joined under the sea by a train tunnel known as "The Channel Tunnel".

England is traditionally known for unreliable weather, soccer, warm beer and fish & chips. With growing ethnic communities especially Indians, some regard curry as having replaced fish & chips as the national dish.
