Code 1

Roxanne

Code 2
Steve Martin tries to make the best of life and love despite being very well endowed. When one possesses a very long nose, it tends to become the thing that people notice about you first. It can also be quite an obstacle in the kissing situations, which those so blessed rarely find themselves. Can intellect and sincerity win in love, when the competition is a hunk with a pert nose?

Code 1

All of Me

Code 2
Steve Martin at his most hilarious as he grapples with the spirit of Edwina Cutwater inhabiting one side of his body, while he still inhabits the other.

Code 1

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Code 2
Steve Martin is a novice when it comes to scoundreling. However that changes when the master of all scoundrels, Michael Caine, agrees to educate him. As an apprentice scoundrel he has to obey his mentor and make a complete fool of himself.

Code 1

A Fish Called Wanda

Code 2
Embroil Kevin Kline and Jamie Lee Curtis with a couple of Pythons and you have a recipe for hilarity. They tried to repeat the mix with 'Fierce Creatures', but that did not come close to topping A Fish, although it had it's moments, especially Kevin Kline playing the parts of father and son.

Code 1

Fawlty Towers

Code 2
The funniest Television show ever - so far. With a wife like Sybil, who can blame Basil for being Basil. It's lucky Polly put the kettle on, because no one else seems to have the inclination nor the ability. It is true that some of the humour is not quite politically correct for the current day, but even that is interesting.

The Meaning of Life

Code 2
Monty Python has a widespread cult following. It's not to everyone's taste and some of the sketches are just not funny. Of course the sketches which are funny are classics. The Meaning of Life however contains a good concentration of funny bits. Admittedly this film too contain a few bits which are not very funny. But the funny stuff will split your sides. Favourites include 'The Galaxy Song', 'The Biology Lesson' and 'The Exploding Glutton'.

BlackAdder

Code 2
The four series of BlackAdder track Rowan Atkinson's version of British history from the Middle ages to the Twentieth century. Edmund BlackAdder must have robust DNA given his successive incarnations. How this gets passed down is not clear, since most women wouldn't touch him with a stale baguette, except maybe the short fat Spanish lady. As the centuries role past Edmund becomes progressively more competent, though his man servant Baldrick remains genetically challenged throughout.

Mars Attacks

Code 2
I love this movie for many things, especially it's irreverence. The design of the Martians is brilliant, so much so that I bought a plastic toy of one, to grace my collection of ornaments. Jack Nicholson plays the president, whose bottom licking aide (played by Pierce Brosnan), convinces him that the Martians have come in peace. That idea is quickly put to rest when some hippies release a "dove of peace" during the Martian ambassador's arrival. This movie takes a fun swipe at other movies, especially Independence Day.

Code 1

Edward Scissorhands

Code 2
This movie is hilariously funny as well as touching and a bit creepy. Rather like Mars Attacks,  whether it should be categorised as comedy, scifi or something else is difficult to determine. To me it is the willingness of Johnny Depp to star in movies like this, that sets him apart from some of his pretty boy acting brethren.

About a Boy

Code 2
Apart from Notting Hill, I've not really enjoyed movies featuring Hugh Grant, but I must admit in About a Boy he was excellent, as were many of the cast. The story is great as is the music. I have watched this DVD many times and keep going back to it. It can make you laugh and cry within moments of each other.
