Starring John Mills, Sylvia Syms and Anthony Quayle, this was one of my favourite movies that we watched as a family on TV, on Saturday evenings, when I was in the 10 - 14 are range. Nostalgia caused me to purchase the DVD from amazon. The movie was a bit more tedious than I remembered, but it was still lovely to see those people get their ice cold beer in a bar in Alexandria, at the end of the movie, after days of sweating in the North African desert. |

After too long a wait and previously postponed releases, Doctor Syn: The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh has been released by Disney in November 2008. This has to be my favourite movie from my childhood. Vicar by day and head of a gang of smugglers by night, Doctor Syn played by Patrick McGoohan is a compassionate crook with an almost perfect disguise. I just got an email from amazon.com to say they have shipped my copy today 8th November 2008. |
