COMPUTER PROBLEM 6Issues opening PDF files in a web browser with Adobe Reader 9 This issue was on a computer running Windows XP with Internet Explorer 7 ( IE 7 ). I have Acrobat Standard Edition 6.0 installed and the free Acrobat Reader 9 (version 9.1.0). When I tried to access PDF documents by clicking on a link in my web browser, I would get a message saying that I could only open the document if I had Adobe Reader 9. It would then try to open the document in Adobe Acrobat 6. The program opened by no document was displayed. After trying several things which made no difference, I opened Adobe Reader 9 and under [Edit] [Preferences] [Internet] I unchecked the box for "Display PDF in Browser". Incidentally the other two options are checked on my machine and I have my connection Speed set to LAN, although I don't know if those make any difference. Of course I was not expecting this to cure my problem - But amazingly it did. So it looks like that check box has the opposite effect of what you would expect. Copyright Cubby-Hole.com |
